Summary of Case:

Hamp Kendall was codefendant of John Vickers. Both men were wrongly convicted of second-degree murder in Feb 1907 by a jury based on inconsistent witness statements. Vickers and Kendall were pardoned by NC Governor Bickett in 1916 on the basis of their actual innocence after an investigation was conducted. The actual killer confessed and committed suicide in August 1922. The men did not receive any compensation.
