Summary of Case:	"Hassan Khan was wrongly convicted in 1988 of robbery and sentenced to 15 years in prison. The key was evidence was his alleged confession, which Khan insisted he never made. Khan was sentenced to 15 years in prison. England's Court of Appeals quashed Khan's conviction on February 23, 1990 based on the complete implausibility of the circumstances of his alleged confession and he was released from custody. The charges were subsequently dismissed. Khan sued and was awarded damages of £23,000. Khan's case caused the opening of a police corruption investigation of the West Midland serious crime squad that resulted in the quashing of 27 convictions based on police wrongdoing. The convictions were overturned and the men released from custody between 1990 and 1996."
