Summary of Case:

"Yeung Kiu-yue was wrongly convicted of animal cruelty for being one of a group of men who kicked a cat "like a soccer ball" in Hong Kong on November 16, 2012. The prosecution's case at trial was based on a single eyewitness who said Kiu-yue resembled a man involved in the crime who was wearing wearing a black coat and blue jeans. Kie-yue was convicted even though CCTV footage showed two people dressed that way and neither was identifiable as Kie-yue. Kie-yue was sentenced to 16 months in prison. He appealed, and on August 4, 2014 Hong Kong's High Court quashed Yeung Kiu-yue's conviction on the basis the prosecution failed to introduce sufficient evidence he was at the scene of the crime."
