Summary of Case: |
"Tomas Klamo was wrongly convicted of manslaughter in the death of his infant son Izaiah, based on the prosecution expert's testimony that the four-week old child died from injuries related to being shaken. He was sentenced to five years imprisonment. After his conviction experts examining the evidence concluded that Izaiah's injuries were inconsistent with being shaken. In May 2008 the Victorian Court of Appeal quashed Klamo's conviction on the basis there was insufficient evidence a crime had been committed, and ordered his acquittal. Tomas Klamo was wrongly imprisoned for one year." |
