"Dale Robert Kohland was wrongly convicted of arson in 2007. On June 26, 2013 the Iowa Court of Appeals granted Kohland's post-conviction petition that his trial lawyer provided ineffective assistance of counsel by failing to file a motion to suppress his faulty confession. The COA ruled that "Absent the confession, it is more likely than ot Kohland would have been acquitted." Kohland was released from prison on May 21, 2013 and his supervision on parole was terminated on June 26, 2013 -- the date of the appeals courts ruling." |
