Summary of Case:	"Ashok Koul was wrongly convicted in 2015 and sentenced to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1 lakh in the Indian State of Jammu and Kashmir. Koul's conviction was based on the testimony of witness Anil Kumar, who registered the case with the police against Koul. On February 3, 2017 Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir and Justice B.S Walia, in a Division Bench (DB) of the State High Court, set-aside the conviction of Ashok Koul and ordered his acquittal. The justice's ruled: "It is a matter of concern that the Trial Court had erroneously and in a perfunctory manner recorded the conviction coupled with concoction of facts suggesting that unwarranted conviction has been recorded, as a result 20 years’ rigorous imprisonment has been awarded." (Koul's fine was approximately US$1619 at the exchange rate of Rs61.759407 per $US (2-4-2015).)"
