"Bangladeshi M.?L. was a teacher in Al Qusais, UAE wrongly convicted in 2013 of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl he was tutoring in the Quran. The incident allegedly occurred in January 2012 but the girl's father didn't report it until June 15, 2013. His conviction was based on the hearsay testimony of the girl's father. After his conviction he was sentenced to one year in prison. In October 2013 the appeals court vacated Bangladeshi M.L.'s conviction and acquitted him." |
