Summary of Case:

"Milton Lantigua was wrongly convicted of second-degree murder and sentenced to 20 years in prison for a 1990 shooting death. Convicted after his second trial in 1992, after he had a hung jury in his first trial in 1991. His conviction was based on the perjured testimony of the prosecution's "eyewitness." Prosecutor's concealed the existence of a second witness who would have testified that Milton Lantigua was not the murderer. The state court of appeals reversed Lantigua's conviction in 1996. Arrested in 1990 and wrongly imprisoned for six years. Milton Lantigua was paid $300,000 compensation by the State of New York to settle his wrongful conviction lawsuit.
