Summary of Case:	"Fonotoe Pierre Lauofo was wrongly convicted in 2014 of inciting or encouraging the obstruction of a police officer from executing his duty in Apia, Somoa. The prosecution of Fonotoe Lauofo was based on an incident on Beach road on the night of October 4, 2013. Lauofo was former Deputy Prime Minister of Samoa. Lauofo was convicted by District Court Judge Vaepule Vaemoa Va'ai following a bench trial. He appealed, arguing there were errors in the facts of law and inconsistencies in the prosecution's evidence. On December 12, 2017 Samoan Supreme Court Justice Mata Keli Tuatagaloa released the court's ruling that "The sentence imposed is quashed and the appellant is discharged without conviction." The Court stated it would release it full decision on December 15, 2017."
