Summary of Case:

"Arnoldo Lazarovsky was wrongly convicted twice of an indecent act and an act of sodomy against a minor less than 14 years of age. Lazarovsky's first conviction on July 27, 2000, in the Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court was based on the testimony of the victim about the assaults in 1991 when the boy was 12-years-old and Lazarovsky worked at a swimming pool. The victim complained about the assaults 6 years later when he entered the Israeli military. The 66-year-old Lazarovsky was sentenced to six years in prison, with 2 years suspended. After Lazarovsky's release his conviction was overturned in 2005, he was again convicted after his retrial. Lazarovsky appealed that conviction. The Israeli Supreme Court acquitted Lazarovsky on November 25, 2010. It was the first time a retrial conducted by the Israeli Supreme Court had acquitted someone overturning their conviction. Lazarovsky's conviction was overturned based on the acquittal on appeal of another man, Gregory Schneider, who had also been convicted of allegedly committing similar crimes against the boy. Schneider's convictions were overturned based on the appeals court judge's finding that the unreliability of the boy's testimony."
