Summary of Case: |
"Herman Lindsey was wrongly convicted in 2007 of murdering shooting Joanne Mazzola with a .45-caliber handgun at the Big Dollar pawnshop in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 1994. Lindsey was sentenced to death. On July 9, 2009 the Florida Supreme Court unanimously overturned Lindsey's conviction and death sentence based on insufficiency of the evidence and remanded it to the trial court for dismissal. The Court wrote in its opinion, ''While we agree that the evidence here does seem suspicious, even a deep suspicion . . . is not sufficient to sustain conviction."" |
