Summary of Case:	"Wrongly convicted in 1995 of manslaughter in the 1994 death of his former girlfriend. Served 7 years in prison before his release in January 2002. Convicted based on police perjury concerning his alleged confession to killing his ex-girlfriend. Exonerated on August 25, 2004 when New Zealand's Court of Appeals quashed his conviction after police charged his nephew with murdering the woman and framing Lawrence Lloyd, his uncle. In December 2005 the nephew was acquitted of murder when a judge granted his motion to suppress his videotaped confession in which he detailed how he killed the woman. The judge ruled he hadn't been properly informed of his right to remain silent and to have the assistance of counsel prior to talking with the police."
