Summary of Case:

"Wrongly convicted in 1947 of three separate rape and murders based on his false confession to the crimes and an eyewitness to one of the crimes who testified at his trial. Ralph Lobaugh was sentenced to death. Within three years another man had been convicted of one of the crimes and still another man had been convicted of the two other rape/murders and been executed. Although he had been cleared of the crimes, in 1951 Indiana Governor Henry Schricker didn't pardon him, but because he was a homosexual he commuted his sentence to life in prison and he was transferred to a mental institution -- although he had no mental problems. In 1977 Lobaugh was released on parole, 28 years after he had been cleared of the crimes."
