Summary of Case:

"Roger Logan was wrongly convicted in 1999 of the 1997 shooting murder of Sherwin Gibbons in New York City's Brooklyn borough, Logan was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison. A review of Logan's case by the Kings County DA's Office resulted in new evidence that the prosecution failed to disclose favorable evidence and that prosecution witnesses provided false testimony. The DA's Office filed a motion to vacate Logan's conviction and dismiss his charges, which was granted. Logan was released after 17 years in custody. Logan filed a compensation claim with New York State, and in 2015 he was awarded $2.975 million. In 2014 Logan filed a notice of claim with New York City for $150 million. On January 8, 2016 New York City's comptroller's office announced that Logan and the city had agreed to settle his claim for $3.75 million. So Logan was awarded a total of $6.725 million. Logan's wife filed a separate claim against New York City for $100 million that was pending as of January 8, 2016."
