"Ronald Lovos was a Marine wrongly convicted of fraud for arranging a "sham" marriage in order to obtain $500 in additional benefits on available to a married serviceman. After his conviction by a military courtmartial at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, Lovos was sentenced to serve 15 months in prison and a bad conduct discharge. Lovos appealed. On August 18, 2015 the Navy-Marine Corps Court of Criminal Appeals overturned Lovos' conviction on the basis the prosecution introduced insufficient evidence to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that he had committed fraud."
