Summary of Case:	"Zwelakhe Abedingo Luthuli was wrongly convicted in 2000 of raping a relative. The woman recanted in 2002 and completed an affidavit. "In her affidavit, the relative said she had accused Luthuli because she was scared of her mother, who suspected she had a boyfriend and arranged for her to have a virginity test. She said she had regular sex since the age of 12 with a 21-year-old man, named Mududuzi, who was staying at her house. The girl, then 13, said an aunt had suggested she accuse Luthuli of rape." Luthuli was released on December 20, 2004, pending the hearing of his appeal of his conviction and sentence that was brought on his behalf by the South African Prisoners' Organisation for Human Rights."
