Summary of Case:

"Kendrick Mable was wrongly convicted in Harris County, Texas on March 19, 2014 of possessing PCP. Mable pled guilty based on a field test that the substance found in his possession was PCP, and he was sentenced to 2 years in prison. In April tests of the substance by Houston police crime lab were negative for an illegal drug. Mable and the Harris County DA's Office filed a joint habeas corpus petition on May 1, 2014 that requested the withdrawl of Mable's guilty plea and the vacating of his conviction. Mable was released on bail with the approval of the DA's Office. A Harris County judge recommended the granting of Mable's habeas petition. On September 17, 2014 the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals granted Mable's habeas petition based on new forensic evidence he did not possess the controlled substance he pled guilty to possessing. The Harris County DA's Office filed a motion for dismissal of the charges which was granted on October 13, 2014."
