"Robert MacGregor was a physician wrongly convicted on June 10, 1912 of murder and sentenced to life in prison. MacGregor's conviction was affirmed on appeal. On November 27, 1916 Michigan Governor Woodbridge Ferris granted MacGregor a full pardon in stating, "I am firmly convinced that Dr. MacGregor is absolutely innocent of the crime for which he was convicted. I am satisfied that in sending him to prison, the State of Michigan has made a terrible mistake.""
