Summary of Case:	"Amos Harris and Runey Mah were codefendants wrongly convicted in federal court in the eastern district of New York of conspiring to alter U.S. currency with the intent to defraud. The two were prosecuted for allegedly plotting to bilk a victim in a "black money" currency alteration scam in February 2010. They were arrested by Secret Service agents at the Staten Island motel where they had arranged to meet their alleged "victim" -- who was an undercover ICE federal agent. They were released on bail, which was continued prior to their jury trial, and after their convictions. During their trial the prosecution only introduced testimony by the undercover ICE agent and the Secret Service agent who arranged the sting. On February 12, 2016 U.S. District Court Judge Roslynn Mauskopf granted the post-trial motions of Harris and Mah for a judgment of acquittal based on the prosecution failure to introduce sufficent evidence to prove their guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. Judge Mauskopf ruled that neither the facts introduced by the prosecution nor the underlying statute supported the convictions of Harris and Mah under 18 U.S.C. 471."
