Summary of Case:

"Worawi Makudi was wrongly convicted in October 2015 of forgery and falsification of documents in 2013 in Bangkok, Thailand. Makuki was the head of Thailand's football association when ahead of the 2013. Makudi's rosecution was based on allegations that ahead of the 2013 Thailand Football Association (FAT) presidential election he altered documents. After his conviction in the Southern Bangkok Criminal Court Makudi was sentenced to a 16 month suspended prison sentence. Makudi's tenor as head of FAT ended in February 2016. In October 2016 FIFA's ethics committee issued Makudi a five-year ban of associating with FIFA activities and fined him 10,000 Swiss francs. On April 21, 2017 a Thai Appeals Court quashed Makudi's conviction on the basis of insufficient evidence. After his conviction was quashed by the appeals court, Makudi's lawyer Narinpong Jinapak told reporters during a news conference that the 65-year-old Makuki would be seeking to have his five year FIFA ban overturned, since it was based on his overturned conviction. Jinapak said, "It has been proven that Worawi Makudi, the former president of the Football Association of Thailand, is not guilty as charged. He is clean. He told me after learning of the court ruling that he is very happy.""
