Summary of Case: |
"One of the "Intoxicated Five," five young men convicted by a jury in 2007 of engaging in terrorism for downloading information about terrorism and reading jihadi related blogs. Their sentences ranged from two years in youth detention to three years in prison. On February 12, 2008, the UK's court of appeal quashed their convictions and ordered that they not be retried, ruling that they had no intent to violate Section 57 of the 2000 Terrorism Act. They were released after almost two years of detention in custody." |
