Summary of Case:

"Kelera Marama was co-defendant of Alesi Nalave. Both women pressured by the police into confessing to a June 2004 murder. Their trial ruled the confessions would be admissible and the women pled guilty. The attempted to withdraw their guilty pleas, claiming they were false, but after the court denied their motion they were both sentenced to life in prison. The Court of Appeal ruled in October 2008 that the women experienced a miscarriage of justice and quashed their convictions, because "The circumstances in which the appellants pleaded guilty raise serious doubts in our minds about the genuineness of their guilt.""
