Summary of Case:

"Wayne Martin was wrongly convicted in 2010 of a double-murder in Kings County (Brooklyn), New York inside Gary's Tire Emporium in East Flatbush on Nov. 25, 2005. Martin vehemently proclaimed his innocence when he was sentenced to life in prison without parole. An investigation of Martin's case by the Kings County Conviction Integrity Unit discovered that the prosecution doctored the homicide investigation report turned over to Martin's trial lawyer. That report removed the name of Jeffrey Joseph as an alternate suspect as the shooter. The prosecution also failed to disclose another case report. Joseph was later convicted of a separate murder, and another suspect, Allan Cameron, was convicted of the murder of NYPD Officer Dillion Stewart. Based on the new evidence that the prosecution failed to turn over exculpatory third-party culprit evidence, the Kings County District Attorney's Office filed a motion to vacate Martin's conviction that was granted on July 7, 2016. The DA's Office filed a motion to dismiss Martin's conviction, which was granted on September 7, 2016. "
