Summary of Case:

"Salamat Masih and his uncle Rehmat Masih were wrongly convicted in 1995 of blasphemy in Pakistan for allegedly writing blasphemous graffiti against the prophet Muhammad. Salamat, 14, and Rehmat, 40, were sentnced to death. Salamat and Rehmat are Christians. The defense of two at trial was they were both illiterate when the crime was committed in 1993 and thus it could not have been committed by them. On February 24, 1995 a Pakistani appeals court overturned the convictions on the basis there was insufficient evidence of their guilt."
