"Eilon Mass was wrongly convicted in August 2015 of unlawful assembly and inciting and soliciting theft on September 21, 2014 in Velit Bay, Espiritu Santo, Vanuatu. Mass was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment. Mass appealed. On April 15, 2016 the Vanuatu Court of Appeals quashed Eilon Mass' convictions on the basis the prosecution failed to introduce sufficient evidence to prove his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt, and the trial judge placed an onus on Mass to establish he wasn't guilty." |
