Summary of Case:

"Christina Carole Maycock was wrongly convicted on May 27, 2010 of one count of obtaining property by false pretenses by claiming that she was married from 1993 to 1999 to obtain a family rate on insurance premiums from the cemetery district she worked for. Christina Maycock was convicted after a two day trial, and she was given a suspended 2 to 5 years prison sentence, 5 years of supervised release and ordered to pay $17,288 restitution. On July 6, 2011 the Wyoming Supreme Court vacated Maycock's conviction on the basis there was no evidence she acted to deceive the cemetery district's Board about her marital status and the Board did not rely on her marital status in deciding to grant insurance coverage to her former husband who lived with her and their children. Maycock's retrial is barred on double jeopardy grounds. On October 21, 2011 a Campbell County judge ordered that Maycock be repaid the $20,733 restitution she paid."
