Summary of Case:

"Sharon McAllister was wrongly convicted on May 20, 2015 of contempt of court in Perth, Scotland. McAllister's conviction was for repeatedly failing to allow the father of her 6-year-old son to have his court ordered visitation, even following the judge finding her in contempt of court in October 2013, but imposing no penalty other than for her to comply with the court ordered visitation rights of the father. After her conviction following a bench trial by Sheriff Fiona Tait at Perth Sheriff Court, McAllister was sentenced to 3 months in jail, and led from the courtroom in handcuffs. McAllister served 16 days in jail before she was released on bond following her being granted leave to appeal. On August 20, 2017 Sharon McAllister's contempt conviction was overturned on appeal."
