Summary of Case:	"Kevin McCormick was wrongly convicted in 2011 of second-degree manslaughter in the death of a hunter in Clearwater County, Minnesota on November 6, 2010. After McCormick's conviction by a jury the judge denied his post-trial motion for a judgment of acquittal, but granted his motion for a new trial. Both McCormick and the State appealed. McCormick was allowed to remain free on bail pending the outcome of the appeals. On August 12, 2013 the Minnesota Court of Appeals ruled the trial judge erred denying McCormick's motion for a judgment of acquittal because the State had failed to introduce evidence proving every essential element beyond a reasonable doubt. The State appealed the ruling, but on October 15, 2013 the Minnesota Supreme Court denied review, which made the appeals court's ruling final. "
