"Michael Lee McCormick was wrongly convicted in 1987 of the 1985 murder of a pharmicist, based on his false confession. Michael McCormick was sentenced to death. McCormick's conviction and sentence were overturned in 2003 and a new trial ordered after he had been on death row for 16 years. McCormick was acquitted on December 5, 2007 after a retrial, and he was released after more than 20 years of wrongful imprisonment."
