Mark McElwee was wrongly convicted of burglary (x2) and breach of licence. In 2006 McElwee submitted an application to the Criminal Case Review Commission (CCRC) for review of his conviction as a miscarriage of justice. McElwee's case was referred by the CCRC on 12/21/2006 to the England and Wales Court of Appeal (Criminal Division). On 4/18/2007 the appeals court quashed Mark McElwee's convictions.
