"Karl McHaragh was co-defendant of Brian Ranking. Wrongly convicted in March 2004 of a 1999 murder and sentenced to death. After a ruling by the Privy Council in London granted judges more discretion in sentencing, both defendants were resentenced in September 2004 to 30 years to life in prison. The murder convictions of both men were quashed by the Jamaica's Court of Appeal in May 2006 and they were released after three years of wrongful imprisonment."
