Summary of Case:

"John McLoughlin's conviction at 18 of a sexual offense against a young boy was quashed in what was described by an Appeals Court judge as a "deplorable" conviction that was "wholly and completely wrong." It was also discovered that prior to his trial, the police had concealed a "substantial number of documents proving Mr. McLoughlin's innocence." Among other things the defense wasn't told that the alleged victim admitted to the police prior to Mr. McLoughlin's trial that the sexual abuse had never happened - he had made it up. Lord Justice Buxton stated in quashing the conviction: ''It is clear that Mr McLoughlin is innocent of these charges.'' (INNOCENT, UK website)."
