"Wrongly convicted on May 31, 1957, of contempt of Congress for refusing to testify to the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC) in regards to questions related to alleged communists in Hollywood. Arthur Miller, who married to actress Marilyn Monroe shortly after his testimony in 1956, told the Committee, "I could not use the name of another person and bring trouble on him." Conviction quashed by federal appeals court on August 7, 1958."
