"Neil Miller was wrongly convicted on December 19, 1990 of rape and robbery in Boston, Massachusetts committed on August 24, 1989. Miler was sentenced to 26 to 45 years in prison. Post-conviction DNA testing excluded Miller as the woman's assailant, and his conviction was overturned, the charges dismissed on May 10, 2000, and he was released after 10 years in custody. Miller filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against the City of Boston and officers involved in his prosecution. In March 2006 Neil Miller settled his lawsuit for $3.2 million. Neil Miller filed a claim for compensation from the State of Massachusetts under G.L.C. 258D, and his claim was settled in 2007 for $500,000."
