Summary of Case:

"James Monds was convicted in 1986 of the stabbing death of Vicky Thomas in Shreveport, Louisiana. Thomas had 19 wounds. Monds was convicted of first degree murder and sentenced to life imprisonment. Shreveport attorney John Milkovich believed in Monds innocence and worked on his case pro bono for years. Milkovich's efforts on Monds behalf were so unpopular that at one time he was physically attacked in a hallway at the Bossier Parish Courthouse by a Bossier City detective. On April 22, 1994 Louisiana's Court of Appeal reversed Monds' conviction on the basis of insufficient evidence. He was released after 8 years of wrongful imprisonment."
