Summary of Case:	"Salaam Moore was wrongly convicted on March 8, 2001 of first-degree murder and attempted murder in 1998 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Moore's prosecution was based on the eyewitness testimony of the surviving victim, Doris Wright. After his conviction by a jury Moore was sentenced to life in prison without parole. Moore filed a post-conviction petition for a new trial in 2015 based on Wright's recantation of her testimony. Wright provided a sworn statement that stated in part: “Mr. Moore did not commit these crimes, and he is innocent and wrongfully incarcerated at this time. I testified that Mr. Moore committed the crimes … because I was afraid for my life if I told the truth.” During an evidentiary hearing Wright repeated her written recantation. Moore's petition was granted on July 18, 2016, and a new trial ordered. The Oklahoma County District Attorney filed a motion to dismiss Moore's charges, which was granted, and he was released."
