Summary of Case:	"Gerard Mounsey was wrongly convicted on January 13, 2014 of knowingly or willfully delivering incorrect income tax returns relating to the years 2003 to 2009. Mounsey, a 47-year-old car salesman in Limerick, Ireland,, was convicted by a jury at the Clonmel Circuit Criminal Court. He was given a suspended 18 month prison sentence and fined €10,000 by Judge Tom O'Donnell. Mounsey appealed, arguing that he couldn't have committed his convicted crimes because at the time of his trial he was disputing his tax liability for the years involved in his prosecution. On October 19, 2015 Ireland's Court of Appeal quashed Mounsey's convictions, stating that an issue of central significance to the trial were tax assessments and returns. However, Mounsey's tax liability for the years in question had not been “finally determined at the time of trial and that remains the situation to the present day”"
