Summary of Case: |
"Isata Mukova was wrongly convicted in February 2015 of cattle stock-theft in Eiffel Flats, Zimbabwe. Mukova's prosecution was based on her alleged selling of 36 cattle that had been entrusted to her by her daughter-in-law. After her conviction Mukova was sentenced to nine years in prison. Mukova appealed. In July 2017 the High Court set-aside Mukova's conviction on the basis that the case never should have gone to trial because the case was a dispute between two relatives and business partners that was unduly elevated to a criminal matter." |
