Summary of Case:	"Paschal John Mulholland was wrongly convicted at age 16 in 1977 of being involved in a gun and petrol bomb attack on an RUC patrol in 1976. Mulholland conviction was based on a confession that he retracted because he said he only gave it to stop being mistreated by police interrogators. Mulholland filed an application in 2000 with the Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC). After an investigation the CCRC found medical evidence that Mulholland had been physically abused during his interrogation. Based on the new evidence that his confession had been coerced, Northern Ireland's Court of Appeal quashed Mulholland's conviction on July 10, 2006."
