Summary of Case:	"Arthur Merle Mumphrey was wrongly convicted in August 1986 for the rape of a 13-year-old girl. After serving 14 years of his 35 year sentence, Arthur Mumphrey was released on parole in 2000. He was reimprisoned two years later in 2002 for violating conditions of his parole. DNA tests of crime scene evidence unavailable at the time of Mumphrey's conviction excluded him as the girl's assailant in January 2006. Released on January 27, 2006, after 18 years of wrongful imprisonment. Pardoned by Texas Governor Rick Perry on March 17, 2006. In August 2006 Mumphrey was awarded $452,083.33 compensation under Texas' wrongful conviction compensation statute. Half was paid in August 2006, and the other half was to be paid in August 2007. When the law was amended to include an annuity, Mumphrey was awarded a monthly annuity for life of $7,787.89."
