"Yamtou Naling was wrongly convicted in 1982 of receiving stolen property knowing it to have been obtained dishonestly in Vanuatu. Naling pled guilty and was sentenced to four months imprisonment. Naling appealed. The public prosecutor did not oppose Naling's appeal. On March 24, 1983 the Court of Appeal of Vanuatu set-aside Naling's conviction and ordered his acquittal."
