Summary of Case:	"Padraig Nally was wrongly convicted in July 2005 of the manslaughter death of a man who was trespassing on his property in October 2004. He had been charged with murder, but the jury convicted of a lesser charge. Sentenced in November 2005 to six years in prison. In October 2006 Ireland's Court of Appeals quashed Nally's conviction and ordered a trial, based on the trial judge's refusal to give the jury a self-defense instruction that would have enabled the jury to acquit Nally. The judge had directed the jury to convict Nally of either murder or manslaughter. On December 14, 2006, a jury acquitted Nally and he was released after two years in custody."
