Summary of Case:	"Keith Nichol was wrongly convicted of indecent assault in March 2015 in Jamaica. Nichols' prosecution was based on the complaint of the alleged victim, which Nichol's claimed was a vicious lie. Nichol's was sentenced to three years in prison. On June 27, 2017 the Jamaica Court of Appeals quashed Nichol's conviction and ordered his acquittal. In its ruling the appeals court criticized the time it took for the trial transcripts to be received from the trial court, which delayed the adjudication of Nichol's appeal. Because Nichol's was appealing is case, he was held in custody past his March 2017 release date 1/3 sentence reduction for good behavior in prison). If he had dropped his appeal he would have been released in March 2017 -- but his conviction would have remained on his record. After his release Nichol told the Jamaica Gleaner: ""I was determined to clear my name because the complainant told a vicious lie on me, so I decided that I was not going to abandon my appeal so that I could leave prison in March. Proving my innocence was very important to me because it was devastating to me to be charged and convicted of something I did not do,''"
