"Florinel Nitu was wrongly convicted in October 2015 of resisting arrest in 2014 in St Paul's Bay, Malta. Nitu was sentenced to 8 months in jail for the charge. Nitu, a native of Romania, appealed. On October 27, 2016 Nitu's resisting arrest conviction was quashed on appeal by Madame Justice Edwina Grima. Nitu's conviction of causing slight bodily harm to a neighbor, which was why the police were called, was affirmed. Nitu was resentenced to one month in jail for that conviction."
