"Lyn Nofziger was wrongly convicted on February 2, 1988 of three counts of illegal lobbying White House aides months after he left his position as an aide in the Reagan White House. Nofziger was sentenced to 90 days in prison and sentenced $30,000. On June 27, 1989, a federal appeals court overturned his conviction on the basis the government had not proved every essential element of his accused crimes. That ruling their was insufficient evidence barred his retrial"
