Summary of Case:	"Alexis Oberlander was wrongly convicted of one count of offering a false instrument for filing in the first degree (Penal Law § 175.35) for failing to report on a recertification application for public assistance. On April 20, 2012 the New York Supreme Court's Appellate Div., 4th Dept. reversed Oberlander's conviction of offering a false instrument on the basis the prosecution introduced insufficient evidence to prove her guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. Oberlander had been retried on that single count after in 2009 the court reversed her conviction of 11 additional counts of offering a false instrument and grand larceny, and ordered dismissal of those charges."
