Summary of Case:

"Ali Luul Osman and Abdiaziz Abdinur, the freelance journalist who interviewed her about her gang rape that involved men in military uniform, were wrongly convicted on February 5, 2013 in Somalia for making fale accusatinos and "insulting a government body." The interview was never published. They were both sentenced to one year in prison. Osman's sentence was stayed since she was breastfeeding her child. After an appeal hearing Osman's conviction was overturned in early March 2013, and Abdinur's sentence was reduced to six months from one year. On March 17, 2013 Somalia's High Court overturned Adbinur's conviction and ordered his immediate release, in ruling there was "no evidence to support [Mr Abdinur's] charges.""
