Summary of Case:	"Larry Randal Padgett was convicted and sentenced to death in 1992 for the August 17, 1990 murder of his estranged wife in her home in Marshall County, Alabama. He was convicted on the basis of DNA evidence the prosecution said tied him to the crime. The judge sentence of death overrode the jury's recommendation of life in prison without parole. On May 5, 1995 the Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals overturned his conviction because the State had suppressed exculpatory blood-typing evidence. Randall Padgett was acquitted of all charges after a retrial in October 1997, where the defense presented evidence pointing to a third person as the perpetrator. "
