"Ann Patton was wrongly convicted in May 2014 of murdering her husband, John Bender, in 2010 at their home in Costa Rica. Patton and her husband, a 44-year-old former Wall Street trader, were U.S. citizens living in Costa Rica. She was sentenced to 20 years in prison. Patton appealed and her conviction was overturned in February 2015. Patton was acquitted on September 7, 2015 after her retrial."
