Summary of Case:	"Joncarlo Patton was wrongly convicted in May 2011 of murdering his mother in August 2010 while they were on vacation in Jodhpur, India. The two lived near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvana. 51-year-old Cynthia Iannarelli was found with her throat slit and her body wrapped in bed linen at the foot of a sand dune on August 13, 2010 near where she and her son had checked in two days earlier. Patton, 16, confessed after being intensely interrogated by the police. Patton protested his innocence, and the prosecution's key evidence during his trial was his confession. After his conviction of murder by the Juvenile Justice Board, Patton was sentenced to 3 years detention at a juvenile remand home. Patton appealed, and on May 11, 2012 the High Court in Rajasthan acquitted him on the basis his confession was unreliable and without considering it there was insufficient evidence he committed the crime."
